JA Solar JAM54D40-465/LB Solar Panel
The JAM54D40-465/LB model from Tier-1 manufacturer JA Solar is a high-efficiency monocrystalline bifacial PV module from the premium DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series.
Description
Why choose a bifacial design?
The main highlight of this panel is its active rear side, protected by 1.6 mm tempered glass instead of a standard plastic backsheet.
-
Extra generation from albedo: The panel absorbs light reflected from the ground, the roof or neighbouring surfaces (the albedo effect). Depending on the type of surface beneath the panels, the bifacial design delivers from 5% to 25% of additional generation on top of the rated 465 W.
-
The best surface types for maximum effect:
-
Light-coloured PVC membrane or a flat roof — a gain of up to 10–15%.
-
Light-coloured gravel or concrete under a ground-mounted structure — a gain of up to 15–18%.
-
Snow cover in winter — delivers the maximum reflection effect, with a gain of up to 25%.
-
Technological advantages of the model
-
Advanced N-Type (TOPCon) technology: N-type cells are practically immune to initial degradation (the LID effect) and perform better in low-light conditions (at dawn, at dusk and under cloud cover).
-
Double Glass construction (glass-glass): The use of two layers of tempered glass (1.6 mm at the front and 1.6 mm at the back) guarantees unprecedented mechanical strength, complete sealing and protection of the silicon wafers against microcracks, ammonia, salt and moisture.
-
Minimal temperature coefficient (-0.29%/°C): On hot summer days, when standard panels lose output due to overheating, the JAM54D40-465/LB works far more stably, retaining high efficiency.
-
Black Frame aesthetics: The stylish 30 mm black anodised frame makes it easy to integrate the panels into modern rooftop installations on private houses.
Installation details we take into account in practice
-
Shading beneath the structure: Because the rear side of the panel has to stay open to light, the mounting profiles must not completely cover the back of the PV module. We use special brackets that minimise shading of the rear glass.
-
Mounting height: The higher the panel is raised above the ground or roof (ideally from 1 m for ground-mounted plants), the better the light is scattered and the more energy the rear side generates.
-
Sizing the inverter for current: Because of the additional bifacial generation, the panel’s operating current can rise. Our engineers always calculate a current margin on the inverter trackers to avoid generation limiting (clipping) on sunny days.
